Socials
| The definition of a social is needing the company of others or meeting people for pleasure. Some would say that a social means going out to another location, not working, but just enjoying each other's company. Many would say that socialising costs money that is better used elsewhere. The members of the Lions Club of Fish Hoek are a collection of people who work hard at helping the community and, perhaps unfortunately, play very little. This would make Lions a 'no fun' organisation but this is certainly not true as the members of the Lions Club of Fish Hoek have fun whilst working and improving the community. A social aspect comes into it when someone remembers how silly someone else in the group looked or acted at a previous meeting. A social for Lions, like many other groups, means getting together with fellow club members, combining our own money, and interacting with each other on a social level whilst we complete our task or over a braai and a cold one after a hard days work. With the proliferation of Lions clubs world wide, Lions Club members concentrate on improving the community they reside in. There is normally such a need for assistance that members of the Lions club just don't get the chance to 'get away from it all'. Now and again we might decide to have a picnic at the bottom of the picturesque Chapmans Peak or perhaps try something new and hitch a fun ride on one of the South African Navy corvettes. Lions Club members have their most fun when helping other people and also in building the camaraderie between the involved members. Come along to one of our fund-raisers or projects, help us all make it a success and you will no doubt see there is nothing better, than socialising around friends and people you can trust and enjoy being with, whilst you are all at work for the good of the community. |
