Leos

Who we are?

First of all, LEO Clubs are not based on star signs, as many people assume.

LEO Clubs are made of young adults who are interested in meeting other young adults, enjoying socials together, as well as doing community service projects to improve the lives of others.

LEO Clubs were started as a project of Lions International, to enable younger adults who would like to assist their community along the same principles as Lions International, partake in activities that would improve their communities.

LEO Clubs are made up of members aged between 13 – 18 (Alpha LEO Clubs) or 18 – 28 (Omega LEO Clubs) yrs of age.

The Fish Hoek LEO Club was chartered on the 16th of July 2006 and would welcome any young adults between the ages of 14 – 28yrs of age.

What LEO's do.

The LEO motto is:

Leadership through Experience and Opportunity, through the medium of service work.

This is achieved on two Levels:

  1. Development of Communities: i.e. improving social and spiritual well-being, citizenship, community programmes.

  2. Development of Individuals: i.e. developing individual abilities, leadership potential, understanding, goodwill and co-operation.

The primary focus of any LEO club is to do various projects within their community, and thereby have a positive effect on the lives of individuals and the environment.  To enable LEO’s to do these types of projects to the best of their abilities, and to help them career wise, various training courses are held on a monthly basis, including AIDS awareness, Train-The-Trainer and Toastmasters.  Of course, to do all the projects we undertake, funds are required. We are responsible for our raising our own LEO clubs’ funding. We do this by holding fundraising events to make us able to run optimally.

In closing, LEO’s are very special young people. They are young people who have a caring nature and show responsibility, dedication and a passion to serve others not as fortunate as themselves.

When and where we meet.

The LEO Club of Fish Hoek meets every 1st Monday of every month at 19:00 at the Lions clubhouse on the Silverglades sports fields. Join them  at a meeting, meet the team, possibly get involved and have some fun.

To confirm a meeting is proposed, or if you would just like to get some more information about the LEO club before attending a meeting,
please contact the LEO President of Fish Hoek LEOs at leopresident@fishhoeklionsclub.org.za

Otherwise just come along to a meeting as the LEOs you meet there will undoubtedly be able to point you in the right direction so you can
gather your information.
